Youth Partnerships Advance School Recycling

Circular Materials is partnering with Earth Rangers and EcoSchools Canada to expand recycling education and support Ontario’s transition to extended producer responsibility. The collaborations strengthen school-based engagement as the province shifts to a standardized system for packaging and paper recovery.

The partnership with Earth Rangers brings assemblies, classroom activities, digital modules, and take-home resources to hundreds of elementary schools. The content highlights how recycling decisions affect wildlife and community well-being.

“We know real impact isn’t achieved alone,” said Allen Langdon, CEO of Circular Materials. “Through collaboration we can give students and families the tools they need to lead on recycling and sustainability.”

Earth Rangers President Tovah Barocas added that the joint programming helps young people connect everyday actions to planetary health.

Circular Materials is also working with EcoSchools Canada to embed updated recycling resources into the national school certification framework. New action cards, contests, and digital toolkits will help schools support waste-reduction goals and tailor efforts to regional needs.

“Change is most powerful when driven by collective action,” said Sierra Frank, Co-Executive Director of EcoSchools Canada. “Together we are helping schools strengthen recycling practices across Ontario.”

By partnering with trusted education networks, Circular Materials is extending access to credible recycling guidance at a critical moment in the EPR transition. The initiative provides students, educators, and families with practical tools that turn environmental learning into sustained action.
