Envision and Spain Unite for $1 Billion Hydrogen Breakthrough

Landmark Industrial Park Project to Anchor Spain’s Renewable Energy Ambitions

Posted

In a landmark move set to reshape Spain's renewable energy landscape, Envision Energy has announced a major partnership with the Spanish government and industry leaders. This collaboration aims to establish Europe's first integrated green hydrogen net zero industrial park, positioning Spain at the forefront of the continent's green energy transition.

A Catalyst for Spain's Hydrogen Roadmap

The ambitious project, backed by an initial $1 billion investment, is poised to significantly accelerate Spain's green hydrogen adoption plans. By developing a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing high-capacity electrolyzers, Envision and its partners are targeting the delivery of five gigawatts of electrolysis capacity. This substantial contribution aligns perfectly with Spain's Hydrogen Roadmap, which aims to achieve eleven gigawatts of production by 2030.

The industrial park's scope extends beyond manufacturing, encompassing design, research, and service functions for the entire green hydrogen value chain. From electrolysis and air separation to ammonia synthesis, the facility is set to become a comprehensive hub for scalable green ammonia production. This integrated approach is expected to drive innovation in renewable energy solutions for hard-to-abate industries, furthering Spain's progress towards its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 23% by 2030.

Fostering Innovation and Sustainable Growth

At the heart of this initiative is Envision's commitment to fostering local expertise and driving technological advancements. The establishment of a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence underscores this dedication, serving as a nucleus for skill development, innovation, and industrial collaboration across Spain.

The centre aims to catalyze breakthroughs in the green hydrogen ecosystem by integrating renewable energy production, energy storage, and net zero digital technology. This holistic approach is designed to ensure a constant clean energy supply, reduce hydrogen production costs, and demonstrate the commercial viability of green hydrogen as the "new oil" for global energy transition.

Construction of the facility is slated to begin in the first half of 2026, with Envision working closely with the Spanish government to select an optimal location for this greenfield development. Upon completion, the industrial park is expected to create 1,000 new green jobs, contributing significantly to local economic growth while advancing Spain's sustainable energy goals.

The Dutch government also recently announced plans for a $1B+ scheme to boost electrolysis capacity and renewable hydrogen production in the Netherlands.
