Ranking Puts Siemens and Enbala at Top of DER Providers List

Posted

Siemens, Enbala and AutoGrid are ranked as the leading market players in the distributed energy resources (DER) space, according to a new Leaderboard Report from Navigant Research. The report examines the strategy and execution of 16 distributed energy resources management systems (DERMSs) for DER and grid management providers.

As the roles of stakeholders evolve — from the end customer to the utility, and all the way up to policymakers — there are many questions as to how DER will be optimally managed. A new wave of technologies developed to manage DER, like DERMSs, presents both opportunities and challenges for vendors and utilities.

Companies that trail the leaders have different backgrounds, with most offering specialized platforms extending into DERMSs. These backgrounds include large technology companies expanding their advanced distribution management system (ADMS) platforms, demand response management systems (DRMS) platform vendors adding other DER, and market-facing virtual power plant (VPP) platforms extending their solution to offer direct grid management.

The reportNavigant Research Leaderboard: DERMS Vendors,” examines the strategy and execution of 16 leading vendors offering DERMSs for DER and grid management solutions. These providers are rated on 12 criteria: vision; go-to-market strategy; partners; product integration strategy; technology; geographic reach; sales, marketing, and distribution; product performance; product quality and reliability; product portfolio and ecosystem; pricing; and staying power. Using Navigant Research’s proprietary Leaderboard methodology, vendors are profiled, rated, and ranked with the goal of providing an objective assessment of these companies’ relative strengths and weaknesses in the global DERMS market.
