(Credit: Mercedes-Benz)Mercedes-Benz has agreed to adopt the North American Charging Standard (NACS) by gaining access to the Tesla Supercharger Network starting in 2024. The announcement follows similar agreements from Rivian, GM, and Ford, all of which will gain access to Tesla Superchargers in efforts to standardize electric vehicle charging across North America.
Widespread adoption of the Tesla Supercharger network follows standards set in place by a White House initiative that established the North American Charging Standard. The standard aims to allow for all EVs, regardless of model or location, to have convenient and reliable charging access across the country.
Like other car companies, Mercedes-Benz will first offer an adapter to already existing EVs, and NACS ports will be added on new electric vehicles starting in 2025. Drivers will be able to access chargers and pay for service through their charging service, Mercedez me Charge, where they will now see Tesla Superchargers on the platform's map.
Mercedes-Benz, along with other major car manufacturers, hopes to boost the adoption of electric vehicles by simplifying charging and providing the necessary infrastructure to support the EV transition.
Not only will Mercedes-Benz drivers have access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America, the company will also implement expansion of their own high-power charging sites. More than 400 charging hubs with over 2,500 chargers in North America will be available by the end of the decade. The company plans to have more than 10,000 charging points established globally, in North America, Europe, China, and other core markets.

In parallel, we are also implementing NACS in our vehicles, allowing drivers to access an expansive network of high-quality charging offerings in North America."
