The deal included state-of-the-art LED lighting as well as building optimization throughout the school district.
Johnson Controls managed the project for Clinton Prairie School Corporation (CPSC), which involved exterior and interior updates to increase student and teacher productivity and provide a more comfortable learning environment, the company said. An energy performance contract guaranteed savings to offset the project costs. Work was performed during off-hours to avoid disrupting classes and completed in March.
Exterior and interior LED lighting went in, and the main gymnasium now has wireless-controlled lighting. Johnson Controls says the project improved exterior brick and stucco, upgraded door access control systems, and replaced exterior doors. CPSC gained improved duct sealing and insulation, a new roof with added insulation, new kitchen equipment, and building control optimization.
The project also modified interior finish restrooms and made water efficiency updates to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
CPSC received a $2,033 prescriptive rebate for the kitchen equipment and a $1,748 rebate as a custom incentive for roofing, duct seal, and the building envelope from Duke Energy, according to Johnson Controls.
Subcontractors for the project included Aeroseal, Automated Logic, C&T Design, Dallman Contractors, Dan Haines, Hinshaw Roofing & Sheet Metal Company, Keusch Glass, Wireless Networking Solutions, as well as the Johnson Controls Indianapolis branch and Johnson Controls Lighting Services.
“Like many school districts, ours faced deteriorating infrastructure and a restricted budget for years,” said Amanda Whitlock, superintendent CPSC. “By collaborating with Johnson Controls, we now have the necessary building enhancements that will position our district for a successful future and make a positive, long-term impact on our funding efforts.”
