Bronx School Gets First NY K-Solar Project

solarcity energy manageThis week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the New York Institute for Special Education in the New York City borough of the Bronx will be the site of the state’s first K-Solar project. The project will receive free technical assistance from the New York Power Authority and is eligible for about $65,000 in incentives from the $1 billion NY-Sun initiative, the press release says.

The release says that K-Solar provides registered public and private schools with free advisory services, solar site assessments, energy analysis, technical and administrative support and expediting permit processing. Fifty-nine of 62 counties have registered since the project launched last year.

Decentralized Energy reports that SunEdison has signed power purchase agreements will 25 schools in California. It is planning to install solar parking canopies at the schools, which include elementary, middle and high schools.
