Rocky Mountain Institute Provides Energy Retrofit Course

The Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) are developing a series of interactive, scenario-based online courses based on RMI’s practice guide, Deep Retrofit Value: A Guide for Investors.

The first in the three-course series "Enhancing Property Value with Deep Retrofits” is now available online. This course enables real estate professionals to define deep retrofits and best practices and deepen their analytical skills to meet energy-efficiency investment goals.

The course also gives a preview of the Deep Retrofit Value Methodology, an analytical model that determines whether a deep retrofit project could help a professional or organization reach or exceed investment goals for a particular property.

Subsequent courses will delve deeper into RMI’s Deep Retrofit Value Methodology using a case study to calculate retrofit value on a subject property and project. The goal of the course is to enable professionals to evaluate precisely how a retrofit project will contribute to the net present value of a real estate asset and to use that knowledge to build a business case and proposal.
