GE Renewable Energy to Generate Additional 2,010 MW of Onshore Wind

GE Renewable Energy recently announced that it has secured 2,010 MW in onshore wind orders in North America through May 2019. These 728 turbines include windfarms across the United States, such as Engie's recently announced 160 MW Jumbo Hill wind farm.

The majority of these orders were for GE Renewable Energy's 2 MW product platform, which will have a total installed capacity of more than 15 GW by the end of 2019.

The US wind market remains strong. According to the American Wind Energy Association, a record 35,000 MW are in the pipeline as of the end of 2018, a 23% increase over 2017.

In April, GE Renewable Energy reached an agreement with Helios Energy to deliver two energy storage systems to be integrated with solar arrays for the Lenox Solar/Energy Storage project in Lenox, New York.

The hybrid system will be installed in upstate New York at the end of 2019 and is expected operational by the second quarter of 2020. The project will enable dispatchable renewable energy penetration into the grid, helping power New York state with reliable renewable energy.
