Cornell Energy ManageOne of the buildings that Cornell University plans for its Cornell Tech Applied Science campus could be the most efficient skyscraper ever built.

The project is slated for Roosevelt Island, which is in the East River between Queens and Manhattan in New York City. It is scheduled for completion in 2017. The tallest of the buildings, according to The Huffington Post, will be a 250-foot-tall dormitory for 520 people. The structure will follow the Passive House standard that was developed in Germany. To date, 25,000 such structures have been certified. The tallest – until the Cornell project is completed – is a 20-story building in Vienna.

In 2014, Cornell selected Ephesus Lighting to convert 12 indoor facilities to LEDs, including 10 sports venues.
