air_force_space_commandThe Air Force’s approach to energy consumption is changing, according to Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James.

James, the Air Force’s highest top civilian employee, told Air Force Radio that a team is in place to look at the branch’s energy future. The goal of the initiative is to set an energy mission instead of just saving fuel, the story says. She said that funds will be delegated to energy resources throughout an entire program.

The story says that The Air Force uses more than half of the energy consumed by the Department of Defense. An integrated approach that saves energy in a number of ways will be the key to comprehensive and sustainable savings.

The Air Force Space Command offered energy savings tips last October during Energy Action Month.
