has announced a 115 MW order from ENERTRAG for two wind projects in Germany—marking the largest order to date for its V172-7.2 MW turbines. The deal strengthens Vestas’ position in the expanding German wind market and underscores a broader trend: global momentum behind the company’s next-generation high-capacity onshore turbines. Vestas
The order includes 12 turbines for the 86 MW Malchow Ost project and 4 for the 29 MW Tantow 1 project, both located in Brandenburg. Vestas will deliver, install, and commission the turbines, with operations expected to begin in the second half of 2027. A 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement is also included to optimize asset performance over the long term.
ENERTRAG CEO Dr. Gunar Hering highlighted the strategic importance of the deal, stating that the projects will become part of the ENERTRAG Verbundkraftwerk—an integrated renewable energy network aimed at delivering a secure, 100% renewable power supply. Together, the projects are expected to power 85,000 homes and cut over 200,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
Vestas' latest announcement follows a series of strategic project wins in key markets across Europe, North America, and Asia.
In Germany, the ENERTRAG deal follows a 175 MW contract with Boreas Energie for four projects in Thuringia, using V162-6.2 MW EnVentus turbines. That agreement also includes a 20-year AOM 4000 service plan, with installations slated for late 2026.
Elsewhere in Europe, Romania has emerged as another growth center. Vestas secured a 143 MW order from Eurowind Energy for three wind farms (Frumușița, Vector, and Pecineaga NE), deploying 23 V162-6.2 MW turbines. In a separate multi-country agreement totaling 131 MW, Vestas also announced projects in France, Greece, Romania, and Japan—featuring a mix of V117 and V136 turbine models tailored to diverse grid and site conditions.
In North America, Vestas continues to scale its presence. A 124 MW order from EDF Power Solutions North America will bring V162-6.2 MW turbines to Québec’s Haute-Chaudière project, paired with a 10-year service contract. In the U.S., a 172 MW contract with Clearway Energy Group will supply the Mount Storm Phase II project in West Virginia.
While Vestas' recent surge is led by onshore turbine orders, the company is also reinforcing its offshore leadership. It has confirmed a 1.1 GW order for the Inch Cape project off the coast of Scotland—featuring 72 V236-15.0 MW turbines. The deal represents one of the largest offshore wind turbine orders in Europe and supports the U.K.'s clean energy transition goals.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Vestas secured its first firm offshore order in Taiwan with a 495 MW contract for the Fengmiao I project, using 33 V236-15.0 MW turbines. Both projects are scheduled for installation beginning in 2026.
Vestas’ latest orders reflect a strategic shift toward higher-capacity, fewer-unit installations that minimize land use while maximizing generation. This approach aligns with regional policy priorities—particularly in Germany, where land constraints and repowering policies are reshaping wind deployment strategies.
By coupling turbine innovation with long-term service agreements, Vestas is reinforcing its position not just as a turbine manufacturer but as a long-term performance partner. Its AOM 5000 and 4000 service programs continue to provide customers with uptime guarantees, predictive maintenance, and optimized lifecycle cost structures—key differentiators in competitive procurement environments.
