Streetleaf, a leading solar infrastructure company, has introduced Shine On Florida, an ambitious program designed to enhance hurricane resilience across the state. This initiative will deploy hurricane-resistant solar streetlights in municipalities, new developments, and private projects, reinforcing Florida’s infrastructure against extreme weather events.

Strengthening Florida’s Storm-Ready Infrastructure

Streetleaf’s innovative solar-powered streetlights have proven their durability, remaining functional through major hurricanes such as Ian, Isalia, Debby, Helene, and Milton since their initial installation in 2019. With over 8,000 solar lights already in place, the company is expanding its efforts to help Florida communities adapt to increasing climate challenges.

CEO Liam Ryan highlights the importance of resilient infrastructure, emphasizing that solar lighting solutions play a crucial role in storm preparedness and disaster recovery. By reducing reliance on traditional grid-powered streetlights, this initiative ensures continuous lighting even during power outages.

Smart Solar Technology for Sustainable Cities

Streetleaf’s solar streetlights integrate IoT technology, allowing for remote monitoring, automatic outage detection, and adaptive brightness control through a cloud-based dashboard. This smart infrastructure eliminates the need for manual reporting, ensuring efficient and proactive maintenance.

To accelerate deployment, Streetleaf has committed to installing solar lighting systems within three months of contract signing throughout 2025. Projects contracted before April 1 will be prioritized for installation before the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, enhancing community preparedness.

The initiative focuses on expanding solar infrastructure in historically underserved areas, providing essential lighting solutions to communities without access to traditional electrical grids. This approach promotes both energy independence and environmental sustainability, aligning with Florida’s broader efforts toward renewable energy adoption.
