Minnesota Twins and Uponor Partner to Advance Sustainability and Community Impact

Posted

In a strategic move to enhance sustainability and community development, the Minnesota Twins have announced a multi-year partnership with Uponor, a global provider of sustainable water and building solutions. This collaboration aims to leverage Uponor’s expertise to further the Twins’ long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship while launching a new community initiative, "Leading With Water. Enriching Lives. Together."

As part of the agreement, Uponor becomes the “Official Plumbing, Infrastructure, and Building Solutions Partner” of the Minnesota Twins and a Cornerstone Partner of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. This partnership marks Uponor’s first collaboration with a professional sports organization, aligning two Minnesota-based leaders in sustainability to create lasting environmental and social impact.

Driving Innovation in Sustainable Infrastructure

Target Field, recognized as “The Greenest Ballpark in America,” has been a benchmark for sustainability in Major League Baseball (MLB). The partnership between Uponor and the Twins is built on a shared commitment to energy efficiency, sustainable water management, and community engagement.

"The Twins have a unique opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and leverage our platform to drive measurable change," said Sean Moore, Twins Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer. "Uponor and GF share our dedication to sustainability, and we are excited to work together on innovative solutions that benefit both the environment and our communities."

John Reutter, Interim President of GF Building Flow Solutions Americas, echoed these sentiments, stating,

"The shared interest in supporting our community with sustainable solutions is the driving force behind this partnership. The Twins continue to raise the bar in providing an outstanding ballpark experience while prioritizing environmental responsibility. We’re excited to bring the Uponor brand into Twins Territory and underscore the importance of energy-efficient infrastructure in all types of buildings.”

A Partnership Rooted in Excellence

Both Uponor and the Twins have received national and international recognition for their leadership in sustainability. In 2024, TIME and Statista ranked Uponor among the World’s Most Sustainable Companies.

The Twins organization has also amassed a strong track record in environmental leadership. GOAL (Green Operations & Advanced Leadership) recognized the club in 2024 with 29 GOAL Medals for its dedication to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. Additionally, Target Field remains the only MLB ballpark to earn five separate LEED certifications.

“Leading With Water. Enriching Lives. Together.”

At the heart of the partnership is the new initiative “Leading With Water. Enriching Lives. Together.” The program is designed to:

  • Advance sustainability goals through community resilience and ecosystem stewardship.
  • Promote entrepreneurship that pushes the boundaries of sustainability innovation.
  • Support community impact programs that empower youth through education and engagement.

By integrating Uponor’s expertise in sustainable water management with the Twins’ extensive community outreach, the partnership aims to drive long-term environmental and social change.

Strengthening Community Investment

Beyond infrastructure improvements, Uponor’s expanded role includes joining Target, U.S. Bank, Treasure Island Resort & Casino, and Nike as a Cornerstone Partner of the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. This fund, recognized as a Project Play Champion by the Aspen Institute in 2024, provides resources to support the development of children and families through baseball and softball programs.

Uponor has already contributed to the ballpark’s sustainability efforts. Since 2010, its hePEX® radiant heating system has provided heat to the Twins' home dugout bench. Now, with a more formalized role, the company will play an integral part in advancing Target Field’s sustainable infrastructure.
