and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll have announced an $8 billion plan to upgrade roads, bridges, and Governor Maura Healeypublic transportation across Massachusetts. The investment is expected to create up to 140,000 jobs and improve mobility for residents statewide.
“Our $8 billion transportation plan is going to improve roads, bridges, and public transportation across the state, which will ease congestion and improve quality of life,” said Governor Healey. “This plan represents an incredible opportunity to not only make major upgrades to our transportation but to also create good-paying, highly skilled jobs.”

Transportation Secretary Monica Tibbits-Nutt emphasized the importance of training and labor partnerships in delivering these improvements, stating:
“Local 4 and other labor unions are helping to build an economy that works for everyone, and training is foundational to getting these important jobs done well, on time, and safely.”
The investment will also fund local infrastructure projects, including road safety improvements in Medway and other municipalities. “The ability to leverage state dollars toward critical transportation projects is an absolute must,” said Medway Town Manager Michael Boynton.
