FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation has secured a place on the CDP “A List” for climate change and water security leadership, recognizing the company's leadership and success of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan, the “Sustainable Value Plan 2030.”

At the core of Fujifilm’s sustainability strategy is a focus on reducing its environmental footprint. The company has set ambitious targets, including:

  • A 50% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions across its entire product lifecycle by fiscal year 2030 (compared to 2019 levels).
  • A 30% reduction in water usage by fiscal year 2030, based on 2013 levels.

These goals encompass every stage of the product lifecycle, from raw material procurement and manufacturing to transportation, usage, and disposal. By addressing environmental impacts at every step, Fujifilm is making measurable progress.

Proactive Water Conservation and Climate Change Initiatives

Since 2014, Fujifilm has conducted comprehensive water risk assessments at its global business sites. This data-driven approach helps the company tailor its water conservation strategies to specific local needs, improving efficiency and reducing resource consumption.

Key initiatives include implementing water recycling programs to minimize waste, developing climate change mitigation strategies and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with SBTi, supporting the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C climate goal.

Corporate Culture Rooted in Environmental Stewardship

Fujifilm’s commitment to environmental stewardship is deeply ingrained in its corporate philosophy. Recognizing that business operations both depend on and impact natural ecosystems, the company promotes a culture of proactive conservation.

Notable initiatives include:

  • Community-based groundwater irrigation projects in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, where Fujifilm employees actively engage in sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Programs to promote biodiversity conservation, resource recycling, and the safe management of products and chemicals.

Fujifilm’s inclusion on the CDP “A List” highlights its ongoing efforts in climate action, water conservation, and resource management. By setting science-based targets and integrating sustainability into its business strategy, the company demonstrates how corporate initiatives can contribute to broader environmental goals. As sustainability expectations continue to evolve, Fujifilm’s approach offers insights into the role businesses can play in addressing global challenges.
