Ballast Nedam, a Dutch construction and development firm and subsidiary of Rönesans Holding, is expanding its international reach with projects across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. The company operates in a diverse range of construction sectors, including bridges, tunnels, utility buildings, ports, housing, and highways, with a strong focus on sustainable development.

One of Ballast Nedam’s key projects is the A24 Blankenburgverbinding in the Netherlands, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat. This project includes the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of two junctions and tunnels, including the Maasdeltatunnel. The immersion of the tunnel sections in 2023 marked a critical milestone, highlighting the company's technical capabilities in managing complex infrastructure projects.

Strategic Focus on Core Transitions

Looking ahead to 2024 and beyond, Ballast Nedam's strategy centers on five core areas: energy transition, urban development and construction, water resilience, infrastructure, and industrial renewals. These initiatives reflect the company's commitment to addressing societal and environmental challenges and promoting a more sustainable built environment.

In the energy sector, Ballast Nedam is advancing cleaner energy solutions, while its urban development projects, such as the Cartesius development, focus on creating sustainable living spaces. Water resilience projects target flood protection and enhanced water management, and infrastructure efforts aim to improve mobility and reduce emissions. The company’s industrial renewal initiatives are designed to replace outdated practices with sustainable alternatives.
