CleanArc Data Centers has officially announced its first large-scale project: a 650-acre campus in Caroline County, Virginia. Designed to support the hyperscale and AI industries, the CleanArc VA1 campus will deliver over 600MW of data center capacity upon full build-out. The initial 200MW is expected by Q3 2026, with an additional 300MW projected by mid-2027.
“We’re bringing scalable, sustainable infrastructure to the heart of the world’s largest data center market,” CleanArc shared in a LinkedIn post.

CleanArc, founded in early 2022 by clean energy investment firm 547 Energy, has rapidly advanced its vision with the support of private equity firm Snowhawk LP. Snowhawk's September investment has accelerated the company's growth, enabling land acquisition along Interstate 95 and the development of its inaugural campus.
“We see a generational opportunity to invest in the cloud and AI architecture underpinning our increasingly digital society,” said Brian McMullen, Snowhawk's managing partner and co-founder.
Under the leadership of Jim Trout, founder of Vantage Data Centers, CleanArc aims to establish itself as a leader in hyperscale solutions. The company focuses on developing campuses with over 300MW capacity, ranging from 200 to 700 acres.
While Caroline County, situated between Fredericksburg and Richmond, has not traditionally been a data center hub, its strategic location offers proximity to Ashburn’s dense data center ecosystem. Developers are increasingly eyeing such areas to meet soaring demand fueled by AI and hyperscale applications.
CleanArc’s selection of a site already zoned for data center use expedites its progress. The company has partnered with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative to begin work on the property’s first substation, a key step in supporting the facility’s substantial power requirements.
CleanArc’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond its infrastructure. The company plans to collaborate with renewable energy providers to provide customers with hourly, load-following carbon-free energy.
“Our partnership with Snowhawk enables us to hit the ground running on developing our inaugural data center,” said Jim Trout.
With an initial project of this scale, CleanArc is positioned to impact the data center industry significantly. The company is meeting current demand and pioneering future-focused solutions that balance scalability with sustainability.
